Drive the coastal road north of Blackwood and stop off in the pretty villages along the way. We love Cley-next-the-Sea for it's lovely artisan shops and pottery. Stop in at Blakeney Harbour grab a coffee and danish from the Two Magpies Bakery and treat the kids to a spot of crabbing on the Quayside or at low tide maybe a bit of mudsliding in the creeks (a popular Norfolk pastime!). Make sure you book ahead for one of the Blakeney Point Seal Trips running out of Morston Quay. Stiffkey is another pretty village with the lovely Stiffkey Stores selling provisions and takeaway drinks in the shop and homewares in their barn out back. Hire one of the iconic beach huts that line the border between pinewoods and white sand at Wells-next-the-Sea or charter a beautiful sailboat out of Wells Quay with The Coastal Exploration Co. and you can navigate the creeks by sail, forage for local delicacies and indulge in a spot of wild swimming far from the summer crowds.

Close to home we have two stunning National Trust properties on the doorstep Felbrigg Hall and Blickling Estate together with the wonderful National Trust Sheringham Park.

The heart of the Norfolk Broads National Park is just under half an hour away from Blackwood, hire a day boat and explore over 125 miles of lock free waterways, set in beautiful countryside.

The Georgian market town of Holt is just 12 minutes inland and packed with independent shops, boutiques, galleries, antique shops, cafes and tearooms. The town holds a Sunday market each Sunday throughout the summer that is well worth a visit. Why not catch the North Norfolk Railway steam train from Sheringham to Holt from where you can walk into town past the magnificent campus buildings and grounds of historic Gresham's School. A little further afield is another lovely village Burnham Market which is well worth a stop off for a couple of hours to explore. Wells also has the pretty Staithe Street which has lovely shops and cafes either side of the street as you walk down towards the harbour.
